Water rescue with the MOJE M1

Rescue at sea is different from inland waterways and accordingly more difficult. In addition to the dangerous currents that are also present here, there is often wind, possibly even violent storms in connection with high waves. The time window required for a successful rescue is reduced again at sea by low water temperatures below 16 ° Celsius.

If everything comes together, there are only about 30 minutes left to decide between life and death.

Ships running at 18 to 20 knots move away from the scene of the accident very quickly even after stopping. It can therefore take hours before the captain reaches the unfortunate position again. The MOJE M1, which is equipped with flashing lights, makes it more likely that the person will be found again even in the dark. If the person who has gone overboard reaches the MOJE M1 on their own, there is no hurdle in the form of a side wall, as is common with life rafts, to be overcome. Swimming in between the two outer support chambers and releasing the middle chamber by pulling the flashing manual trigger lift the person out of the water.

Protection against hypothermia

To protect yourself from waves and spray, the MOJE M1 can be closed like a cocoon using easy-to-use or easily understandable locks. Its support chambers float on the water and isolate the person lying on it from the cold water surface.
The time window for hypothermia, which occurs after just a few minutes for people hanging in the water, is thus delayed and extended to several hours.

Simple recovery of unconscious people

It should not go unmentioned here that the rescue steps mentioned above only apply to people who are still conscious and who can reach the water rescue lift. Only rescuers can drag an unconscious person into the MOJE M1. This always only happens when the middle support chamber is not yet inflated. People with a deployed life jacket can be pulled into the MOJE M1 without physical exertion on the part of the rescuer. Both rescuers and rescued persons can be accommodated on the MOJE M1.

With the help of a crane (David) on board the ship or a helicopter, the MOJE M1 can then be lifted onto the ship in a horizontal position.

Safe recovery without risk of injury

The inflated MOJE M1 offers protection during recovery maneuvers against falling out and in the event of impact against the ship's side. The person in the MOJE M1 is almost immobile. People who have already been injured by falling into the water are thus carefully rescued and stored.

The integrated rescue harness enables horizontal rescue. Back on board, the MOJE M1 provides the isolating platform for first aid.

Rescue from lakes, rivers, canals and docks

Here, too, the time factor plays the biggest role. Some peculiarities make the rescue here extremely difficult. In this way, the person who has gone overboard is caught by the current on fast-flowing rivers and carried away. It is not possible to stop barges or turn around. Therefore, action must be taken immediately and the MOJE M1 immediately thrown into the water.

The MOJE M1 fulfills several functions here. It marks the throw-in point because it can be seen with the inflated floats from a great distance and also from the air.

It drifts at the same speed with minimal drift in the same direction as the person to be rescued. A very important aspect for finding the person again.

On the bank or deck of the ship, the MOJE M1 isolates the rescued person from the cold subsurface.

Ice rescue with the MOJE M1

On land, it is the set-up times of the rescue services and the fire brigade that add up to the travel times to the accident site. The same applies here: a person who has broken into the ice does not have this time.

The police would be the better rescuer here, as patrol cars can be coordinated much faster and usually reach the scene of the accident earlier than the emergency vehicles. Very often children are the ones who break in on thin ice and who cannot rescue them with heavy equipment. Self-protection is of crucial importance here.

With the MOJE M1 and a safety line, the rescuer is adequately secured and does not put himself in danger.

A test carried out in winter certifies that the water rescue lift is suitable for ice rescue. Self-protection is clearly in the foreground here. The water rescue lift carries the rescuer safely to the person who has broken in.
